In the fast moving and highly competitive global economy the logistics sector sits at the very heart of the UK’s prosperity and economic performance.

Delivering goods and supplies on time, efficiently, effectively and at competitive cost is vital to every other industry sector. Therefore, it follows that in an increasingly technological global marketplace the logistics sector has to improve its skills base and look at new approaches that require new skills and aptitudes.

The National Skills Academy for Logistics is led by employers from key sub sectors across logistics and aims to transform the way in which people skills are regarded by the industry and to ensure solutions are delivered to benefit logistics companies and individuals working within the industry.

The Academy is focused solely on meeting demand for logistics.

This means:

• Knowing the market and engaging effectively with it
• Raising awareness and meeting needs and demand
• A strong network of quality assured logistics training organisations
• Work in partnership with Government, other NSAs, sector bodies to raise the profile of the sector
• Maximise every opportunity for development project work and funding
• Picking up the challenge of encouraging SME’s to increase training interventions.
